Experience and Leadership

Richard C. Stewart is a fourth-generation New Canaan family member and has lived in New Canaan most of his life. The family store, Walter Stewart's Market, recently celebrated its 100th year in business. In high school, Attorney Stewart led the State Champion New Canaan Rams football team as their captain. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, and later served on the New Canaan Town Council for 12 years, holding a myriad of key public service positions.

Attorney Stewart believes in supporting his community and applies this dedication to his legal practice, helping individuals and businesses in Fairfield County overcome a wide range of legal challenges, including family and business law, real estate, criminal defense, trials and appeals, and more.

Attorney Stewart's lifelong commitment to New Canaan and surrounding communities of Fairfield County afford an expert perspective on the uniqueness of these communities and the ins and outs of legal challenges here. He has earned his reputation as a strong and tireless advocate in the legal community by leading and defending his clients through all aspects of the legal process and the many levels of the court system from local up to the Connecticut Supreme Court and the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
